Aranmanai 2 Review - Sundar C's Masala Formula Gets a New Cast

Aranmanai 2 Movie Review

Sundar C directed Aranmanai which was a runaway hit because of Santhanam's comedy and the setup of the story in a grand palace. The cast wasn't much in the movie which has completely changed with Aranmanai 2.

But, the director who always loves to stick to the commercial mass entertainer formula does it one more time.

Quick Glance

What's great?

  • ► A mega cast in the movie

  • ► Kovai Sarala's body language even though it's same as Kanchana

  • ► Trisha's glamor show

  • ► Second half where there's bit of a storyline

What's not?

  • ► Aadhi's music and loud background score

  • ► Soori doesn't provoke laughter much

  • ► It's more like a low quality remake of Chandramukhi

  • ► Even you could predict every scene from start to end

As expected, there is a series of deaths in the Aranmanai where Siddharth and Trisha pair lands due to their father Radha Ravi's coma problem. He soon loses his brother and more only to find the place is haunted. Sundar C arrives to save the day from Hansika the ghost.

The Cast

Siddharth hardly has any place to perform in this movie filled by heroines. There is Trisha going all glamorous with nice costumes, the Malayali Chechi Poonam Bhajwa and Hansika in the flashback. Even Trisha didn't act much as the script has no scope to perform while Sundar C just rehashes the role from his Aranmanai. Kovai Sarala makes you laugh at times while Soori tries hard to make you laugh.

The Team

Director Sundar C wants to make it a commercial entertainer but the movie is really long and annoying in most parts. The first half is full of predictable scenes and you could easily say where the ghost will emerge next. The movie has nothing to be scared about and the second half as one of the longest climax scenes in recent times.

Aranmanai 2 is said to be a movie made for B and C center for family audiences. Let's hope it reaches even though critics are going to hate it entirely. But, the era of horror movies officially ends with this as it doesn't scare or entertain us.

Bottom line - Aranmanai 2 is neither scary nor funny but tries to do both.
