Kathakali Movie Review - An Action Thriller with Ample Twists
Vishal is known for his action movies and has been acting in plenty of them for years now. Director Suseendhiran deserves credit for creating the dark, gritty image for Vishal in his movies.

The same formula has been followed by director Pandiraj in Kathakali but he has made it a bit different with his twists and plot.
- • Vishal has done a subtle and action packed performance
- • Cinematography is a major plus for the movie
- • Plenty of predictable but good twists, credit for the director
- • Supporting cast is strong in their acting skills
- • Engaging second half
- • Worst first half with love, comedy and the usual Tamil cinema mumbo jumbo
- • Catherine Teresa has no job except to look cute
- • Completely unwanted songs
Vishal has a problem with the local gangster Madhusudhanan because he has ripped his father off his arms. But, he goes abroad and only comes back to marry Catherine. However, the villain named Thamba is killed and Vishal is framed for the murder as well as his friends. The Cast
Vishal has now taken a new route to subtle action performance since movies like Naan Sigappu Manithan and Pandia Naadu. He maintains the same with this film which makes it enjoyable to watch. Supporting cast comprising of Mime Gopi, Karunas, Pawan and everyone else lifts the movie to new heights. Catherine looks cute and that's it! Actors like Madhusudhanan and another Sreejith Ravi has aptly fit their respective roles. The Team
Director Pandiraj had hardly ventured into the action packed flicks. He has finally broken it by making a slick flick with Kathakali. Vishal is an apt choice for the script and the second half where the twists behind the gangster's death has been handled well. The first half and songs are the annoying parts of the movie.
Cinematography even though very similar to the actor's earlier movies has been done to perfection. BGM by Aadhi is decent.
Bottom line - Bit slow to start but is a thrilling ride towards the end!
