Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam Movie Review - Story of a Mismatched Couple
Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam gained much hype because it had script done by Selvaraghavan and has all the touch that the director is known for.

However, the movie is directed by Gitanjali Selvaraghavan and could easily be the second part to 7G Rainbow Colony because of the characterizations that are exactly the same.
- • Storyline based on a married couple's life is new
- • No compromise in terms of open talks and words with a 'A' certificate
- • Heroine's character is close to life
- • Deglamorized representation of real life love and relationship
- • Too much resemblances to earlier Selvaraghavan movies
- • Bad songs and background score
- • Utterly boring and slow due to the way the scenes are carried out
Balakrishna is an average guy who's not familiar with girls or the posh life even though he's kind of rich himself. He gets married to Wamiqa Gabbi who's an upper middle class, has boyfriends and doesn't sync with him at all. It's the mismatch that keeps the story going forward. The Cast
Balakrishna is an exact replica of Ravi Krishna in 7G Rainbow colony. Right from his glasses, beard to voice, he's all the same. Wamiqa is designed to look like Sonia Agarwal but she does her role to the best in her own style. The film is more of heroine oriented and developers her character to great levels. It represents what women want in a lucid manner. The supporting cast has done their job but there are very less people to talk about. The Team
Director Gitanjali Selvaraghavan has got a decent opening into the world of Kollywood with Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam. The film's script by Selvaraghavan is a major plus and there aren't many movies that give importance to the heroine.
Despite all the good points, the film has a slow pace and very few characters on screen. There are too many long scenes, music is exceptionally poor and run time is long.
Bottom line - A good script and cast performance but lacks to keep us interested in the proceedings.
