Uppu Karuvaadu Movie Review - Light on Script, Heavy on Comedy
Director Radha Mohan has made some of the most memorable and message oriented films in Tamil cinema. Abhiyum Naanum and Mozhi are good examples.

In the newly released, Uppu Karuvadu, he had gone off lane a bit to focus entirely on comedy with an all-new cast and wanted to deliver an entertainer rather than a film with subtle messages. It ensures a decent run at the box office and will give them another go to direct a flick like Mozhi again.
- . Comedy is the forte with amazing one liners
- . Karunakaran in the lead is new
- . Nandita as a wannabe actress is convincingly annoying
- . Huge support cast including Chams, MS Baskar, Mayilsaamy and others
- . Sensible dialogs
- . Lacks a strong script and gripping narration
- . Looks more like multiple comedy scenes put together than a whole movie
A failed director wants another try in Kollywood when a fisherman steps forward to produce his film but only if he cast his own daughter as the heroine. The Cast
Karunakaran has got promoted to shoulder a whole movie on his own and he plays the character to perfection. While romantic scenes could be avoided, it's an apt story for him. Equally convincing with their performance is Narayanan and Chams. The supporting cast with MS Baskar, Mayil Saamy, Kumaravel and Daddy Saravanan is huge but they are the pillars of Uppu Karuvadu. Nanditha has little scope to performance but she does it with ease and manages to convince us as a newbie actress. The Team
Director Radha Mohan is the captain of the ship who has managed to tell us a storyless movie yet keep us entertained throughout its run time. While Uppu Karuvadu may fall a bit low when compared to Payanam or Mozhi, it is fun in the theaters. Dialogs by Pon Parthipan is a huge plus for the movie.
Bottom line - A sure one-time watch which will entertain you sufficiently!
