Dharala Prabhu: Unlimited fun

Doing a remake is no easy task. It has to capture the essence of the original. Three cheers to new director Krishna Marimuthu. He has managed to capture the essence of Bollywood hit Vicky Donor, released in 2012, well to deliver a good outing in Dharala Prabhu. Without tinkering too much with the original, Krishna Marimuthu has successfully reproduced Vicky Donor as Dharala Prabhu. A tough subject for Tamil audience but given well. Thanks to stupendous show by Vivekh, it passes the muster

Actor Harish Kalyan who shot to fame with Bigg Boss stint made a name for himself with movies like Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum. He was last seen in Dhanusu Raasi Neyargalae. In Dharala Prabhu, he reprises the role of Ayushmann Khurrana. He manages to do it well. OIn the movie he plays a sperm donor in the fertility clinic of Dr. Kannadasan (Vivekh). Harish Kalyan as a hero and Tanya Hope as a female lead share good on-screen chemistry. Vivekh as Dr. Kannadasan fits the bill well. The movie has enough one-liners to keep you engaged with laughter.

A topic less discussed in a public forum. The director has managed to speak about it without being cringe. He has also maintained a perfect balance between humor and emotions in the story that has worked well. The songs composed by a host of music directors including Anirudh Ravichander, Sean Roldan, Vivek-Mervin, Inno Genga, Bharath Shankar, Madley Blues, and other independent bands are also good to listen to. A shrewd filmmaker has reproduced the original without much change. A feel-good entertainer for the weekend.
